THE DEFINITIVE SIMPLE MINDS — 2 HOURS

WHAT’S THIS ONE ABOUT?

The playlist’s own description sets the direction:

A two-hour sweep through Simple Minds at their absolute best, from early art-rock and icy post-punk to the stadium-sized classics and later-period standouts.

I’d start with the running order rather than shuffle. Let the choices make their case, one track at a time.

LISTEN OUT FOR

The opening
Start with Theme For Great Cities by Simple Minds. Listen to what catches your ear first, then carry that thought into the next song.

The detail
Try a track you know at a comfortable volume. Listen for a voice or instrument you usually overlook.

Another stop
Stay for Magic by Simple Minds. Listen for what it changes from the opening.

BEST HEARD ON

My pick: headphones and an uninterrupted half-hour. No scrolling, no skipping after ten seconds. Let the music earn the next track.
