NIX NIGHT SHIFT — Roads Less Travelled

WHAT’S THIS ONE ABOUT?

The playlist’s own description sets the direction:

Two hours of night-driving music outside John's usual rotation: modern electronic, post-punk, synth and indie with a steady motorway pulse.

I’d start with the running order rather than shuffle. Let the choices make their case, one track at a time.

LISTEN OUT FOR

The opening
Start with Glue by Bicep. Listen to what catches your ear first, then carry that thought into the next song.

The detail
Try a track you know at a comfortable volume. Listen for a voice or instrument you usually overlook.

Another stop
Stay for Distant Past by Everything Everything. Listen for what it changes from the opening.

BEST HEARD ON

My pick: headphones and an uninterrupted half-hour. No scrolling, no skipping after ten seconds. Let the music earn the next track.
