NIX — The Best Motown 2 Hours Ever
A proper listen. A little time well spent.
I’m making room on the NIX shelf for NIX — The Best Motown 2 Hours Ever. With The Temptations, Edwin Starr, Stevie Wonder in the mix, there’s a good place to start. Put it on, take a little time and see which track makes you reach for the volume.

WHAT’S THIS ONE ABOUT?
The playlist’s own description sets the direction:
The second half of a two-hour Motown masterclass: more Detroit gold, bigger choruses, deeper soul and a euphoric finish.
I’d start with the running order rather than shuffle. Let the choices make their case, one track at a time.
LISTEN OUT FOR
The opening
Start with Papa Was a Rollin' Stone (Single Version) by The Temptations. Listen to what catches your ear first, then carry that thought into the next song.
The detail
Try a track you know at a comfortable volume. Listen for a voice or instrument you usually overlook.
Another stop
Stay for Easy by The Commodores. Listen for what it changes from the opening.
BEST HEARD ON
My pick: headphones and an uninterrupted half-hour. No scrolling, no skipping after ten seconds. Let the music earn the next track.
