Dire Straits: The Best 2 Hours Ever
A proper listen. A little time well spent.
I’m making room on the NIX shelf for Dire Straits: The Best 2 Hours Ever. With Dire Straits in the mix, there’s a good place to start. Put it on, take a little time and see which track makes you reach for the volume.

WHAT’S THIS ONE ABOUT?
The playlist’s own description sets the direction:
A 2-hour Dire Straits ride balancing the big classics, narrative epics, and underrated gems for the strongest possible flow.
I’d start with the running order rather than shuffle. Let the choices make their case, one track at a time.
LISTEN OUT FOR
The opening
Start with Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits. Listen to what catches your ear first, then carry that thought into the next song.
The detail
Try a track you know at a comfortable volume. Listen for a voice or instrument you usually overlook.
Another stop
Stay for Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits. Listen for what it changes from the opening.
BEST HEARD ON
My pick: headphones and an uninterrupted half-hour. No scrolling, no skipping after ten seconds. Let the music earn the next track.
