Most trail mix falls into one of two ditches: worthy but joyless, or a bag of sweets wearing walking boots. NIX Trail Mix takes the middle line.
Bombay mix brings savoury spice and crunch. Honey-roasted peanuts and cashews add staying power. Cranberries and raisins deliver chewy sweetness, dark chocolate provides morale, and pumpkin seeds quietly get some useful work done.
The ratios are designed to fill one of the NIX 400g orange-lidded pots exactly—because an adventure snack should be engineered with at least the same seriousness as the bike rack.

METHOD
- 01
READY THE POT
Make sure the 400g pot and lid are completely clean and dry. Moisture is the sworn enemy of a crisp trail mix.
- 02
BUILD THE SAVOURY BASE
Add the Bombay mix, honey-roasted peanuts, cashews and pumpkin seeds. Stir gently so the smaller spices and crunchy pieces distribute evenly.
- 03
ADD THE FRUIT
Scatter in the cranberries and raisins, separating any pieces that have clumped together.
- 04
CHOCOLATE LAST
Add the dark chocolate buttons only when everything is cool and dry. Fold them through gently so they stay intact.
- 05
SHAKE, DON'T PULVERISE
Fit the orange lid and give the pot three or four gentle turns. Avoid a full cocktail-shaker performance unless you fancy Bombay-mix dust.
- 06
PORTION FOR THE TRAIL
A sensible riding portion is 50g. Tip it into a small reusable pouch before setting off, or take the pot for sharing at camp.
POWER BOOST
Replace 25g of Bombay mix with 25g extra peanuts or roasted edamame. The total remains a neat 400g.
CHASE MODE
Add ½ teaspoon smoked paprika and a small pinch of chilli flakes. Toss through before adding the chocolate.
NO MELTDOWN
Replace the chocolate buttons with cacao nibs or an extra 20g cashews and 15g cranberries.
STORAGE
Seal the pot tightly and keep it somewhere cool, dry and away from direct sunlight. For best crunch and flavour, use within 2–3 weeks.
In warm weather, keep it out of a hot vehicle and portion the chocolate version shortly before leaving. Always check the use-by dates of the individual ingredients.
ALLERGY NOTE: contains peanuts, tree nuts and likely gluten. Check every packet for milk, sesame and other allergens.BUILT FOR THE TRAIL.
WELCOME AT CAMP.
Spicy, sweet, salty, crunchy and portioned properly. It travels well, takes minutes to make and contains enough chocolate to remain civilised.
FILL THE POT. PACK THE BIKE. FIND THE VIEW.
