Jackery Just Turned the Power Up: The New Generation of Portable Energy

Jackery’s latest generation stretches from genuinely portable power stations to serious home-energy systems. We look at where the new hardware fits into life on the road, trail and beyond.

There was a time when taking serious electrical power away from a wall socket meant bringing a generator, a can of fuel and something resembling the soundtrack of a small agricultural incident.

Those days are disappearing quickly.

Jackery’s latest machines make portable power feel less like emergency equipment and more like another piece of adventure technology: charge it, throw it in the vehicle and head for somewhere with a considerably better view.

In 2026, Jackery has pushed the idea much further. The new generation ranges from compact Explorer units to 3kWh portable power stations and increasingly sophisticated home-energy systems. The orange trim remains, but what sits behind it is becoming far more capable.

For NIX DRONES, that raises a more interesting question than simply reading numbers from a specification sheet: what could you actually do with all that power?

Explorer 3000 v2 — The One That Caught Our Attention

This is one of the most interesting new Jackery options for road trips, larger camps and mobile setups.

The Explorer 3000 v2 packs a 3,072Wh battery with 3,600W output and up to 7,200W peak output. Jackery says it weighs around 27kg and is 35% more compact than its predecessor.

Twenty-seven kilos isn’t exactly something you casually slip into a jacket pocket, admittedly. But for this amount of stored energy, it is impressively transportable.

Why 3kWh matters

Once a portable battery reaches this territory, the conversation changes. We aren’t only talking about topping up a phone and keeping a few camera batteries alive.

Think drone batteries. Camera chargers. Laptops. Portable fridges. Lighting. Starlink. Cooking equipment. Power tools. A complete mobile editing station.

Potentially several of them at once.

The 3000 v2 starts looking less like an oversized power bank and more like a portable electrical hub. For a long ROAD adventure — particularly one involving photography, drones or remote working — that’s a compelling proposition.

Sunlight In. Adventure Out.

The other half of the Jackery equation remains solar.

Pair a large Explorer with folding solar panels and you’re no longer solely consuming the electricity you packed before leaving home. You’re generating more.

That’s when the system starts making sense for longer stays. Park somewhere beautiful. Unfold the panels. Point them towards that mysterious glowing object occasionally visible above Britain. And start putting energy back into the battery.

Simple. Well, weather permitting.

Explorer 2000 v2 — The Road-Trip Sweet Spot?

The Explorer 2000 v2 sits further down the scale at roughly 2,042Wh. For plenty of people, that could actually make it the more sensible machine.

Two kilowatt-hours is still substantial energy for camping, filming or keeping a mobile workstation running, without automatically moving into the physical territory of the largest home-backup systems.

For photographers and drone pilots, this sort of capacity is particularly appealing. A normal day might involve flying several drone batteries, charging cameras, running a laptop and perhaps keeping a portable fridge going.

Suddenly the ability to carry your own silent electrical supply feels rather less like a luxury.

The mobile studio

Drive. Explore. Shoot. Land. Charge everything. Edit. Sleep. Repeat.

The limiting factor increasingly isn’t electricity.

It’s whether you remembered the SD cards.

Then Jackery Went Big

Jackery’s current range doesn’t stop at portable camping batteries.

At the larger end sits equipment such as the Explorer 5000 Plus, with approximately 5,040Wh of capacity and up to 7,200W output.

That is a very different animal.

With wheels underneath and expansion options available, this is less “grab it for a picnic” and more: what if the house loses power? Or: what if the workshop isn’t anywhere near the grid?

Portable power stations used to supplement mains electricity. Now some systems are being designed to temporarily replace it.

HomePower — When the Power Station Stops Being Just Portable

The HomePower 3600 Plus is another sign of where Jackery is heading. It starts with around 3.6kWh of energy storage and 3,600W output, with compatible configurations able to expand considerably.

This is no longer purely adventure hardware. It’s home resilience, solar storage and emergency backup.

SolarVault 3 — Jackery Wants a Piece of the House

In 2026, Jackery’s European home-energy direction became considerably more ambitious with the SolarVault 3 Series.

Rather than being a battery you simply carry outside, SolarVault is intended as a modular home-energy storage platform. The broader idea is clear: Jackery is moving from “here’s some electricity for your campsite” towards “how about we help manage the electricity in your house?”

That’s quite a journey.

Which Jackery Makes Sense?

Lighter trips

The smaller Explorer range makes sense when the objective is straightforward charging without filling half the boot with batteries. Phones, cameras, drones and laptops are easy territory.

Serious road and camp power

The Explorer 2000 v2 and especially the Explorer 3000 v2 are where things become much more interesting. This is the territory for extended road trips, remote filming, van setups and camps where mains-style appliances start joining the equipment list.

Home and heavy backup

The Explorer 5000 Plus, HomePower machines and newer home-energy systems belong at the serious end. These systems aren’t merely keeping the drone flying. They’re increasingly capable of keeping substantial parts of everyday life running when the grid isn’t.

The NIX DRONES Verdict

The biggest change isn’t simply that Jackery batteries have become larger. It’s that they’ve become more useful.

The Explorer 3000 v2 is perhaps the clearest example. Three kilowatt-hours of energy and 3,600W of output in a package that can realistically travel in a vehicle opens the door to some properly ambitious off-grid setups.

For drone pilots and photographers, portable power also solves one of those wonderfully boring problems that can otherwise kill an adventure stone dead.

Everything has a battery. And every battery eventually reaches 0%.

Having your own rechargeable reservoir of electricity means the cameras can keep rolling, the drone batteries can keep charging and the laptop can keep chewing through absurdly large video files somewhere miles from the nearest socket.

And when the sun appears? Unfold the panels and start putting some of it back.

The grid is becoming optional.

For ROAD trips, remote camps and photography missions, that’s when things start getting interesting.
