Dubbed Out Camp Out 2026 — One More Weekend Under the Stars
Vanilla is heading to Hooton Lodge Farm—and Paul and Jackie are coming too.
There is something special about a proper campervan weekend: arriving with a van full of gear, choosing a pitch, putting the kettle on and watching an empty field slowly turn into a little community. That is exactly what Dubbed Out Camp Out 2026 promises when it returns to Hooton Lodge Farm near Rotherham from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September—and this time Paul and Jackie are coming along too.
Vanilla is ready
Naturally, Vanilla—my Indium Grey Volkswagen Transporter campervan—will be right at home among the Volkswagen crowd. Although Dubbed Out has its roots firmly planted in the VW community, the welcome extends to all types of campervans and motorhomes.
That is how it should be. Whether somebody arrives in a beautifully restored classic Volkswagen, a modern Transporter conversion, a self-built camper or a full-sized motorhome, everyone is there for much the same reason: freedom, travel and the pleasure of waking up somewhere different.
Late September camping can bring almost anything weather-wise, but that is part of the adventure. A warm van, decent food, good company and perhaps the Webasto ticking away should keep the autumn chill firmly outside.
A weekend with Paul and Jackie
Knowing that Paul and Jackie will be there makes the weekend even more appealing. Campervan trips are always enjoyable, but sharing the experience with good friends adds another dimension—and normally a great deal more laughter.
There will be time to explore the site, admire the collection of vans and settle in for relaxed evenings back at camp. With off-the-ground firepits permitted until 11pm, we should be able to finish each day around the fire, weather permitting. This is Britain in September, so optimism and waterproofs will both be packed.

A proper family-friendly camp-out
The event is being held at Hooton Lodge Farm, Rotherham, S65 4TE, with onsite toilets, showers and drinking water available throughout the weekend. Dogs are welcome too, and the emphasis is firmly on a friendly, easy-going atmosphere.
There is no need for unnecessary fuss—just camping, conversation and a shared enthusiasm for vans and life on the road. It is the simple formula campervan gatherings have always done so well.

Dubbed Out Camp Out runs from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September 2026. The full weekend costs £60 per van and includes up to two adults and three children. Onsite toilets, showers and drinking water are provided; dogs are welcome; and off-the-ground firepits are permitted until 11pm.

With Paul and Jackie joining me, the date is firmly in the calendar. Now comes the important part: planning the food, packing for every possible type of weather and making sure there is enough room in the fridge for the essentials.
